WE honor the powerful legacy of Black freedom fighters whose lives and sacrifices have shaped the ongoing movement for justice and liberation. Our voter activation, leadership development, and community engagement work strengthens and builds that movement, empowering Black community members across the state of Georgia. In this moment, we are holding the line and staying diligent in all aspects of our work, and honoring the humanity of those we serve and ourselves while doing it.
WE are proud of our accomplishments:
During election cycles, WE talked with over 25,000 Georgia voters and texted more than 400,000 Georgia voters about critically important issues—90% of whom were people of color
Contributing to the record voter turnout during the historic Georgia Senate Runoff elections, counteracting fatigue and apathy, and demanding #ReparationsNow
Uplifting phenomenal Black women whose leadership inspires us through the WE10Honors event
Hosting community engagement events including the Justice Just-Us Jamboree, National Voter Registration Day, and Black Listed Banned Book Fair
Provide relief/aide to team members/volunteers in the form of food and transportation support
The next critically important election cycle is quickly approaching and WE is prepared to activate our community members, build the leadership of Black young people, and increase civic engagement among voters. Soon, we will be building out our community campaigns focused on deep-dive issues, voter registration, and Get Out the Vote efforts, including for the primary and general 2026 midterm elections and local municipal races. We will also be recruiting and training future leaders as our community engagement team and canvassers. We are also continuing our policy efforts focused on ending hair discrimination and studying the application of reparations for Black people in Georgia and the US.
As WE’s CEO Malika Redmond said, “What was once previously unthinkable can become reality if we tap into our shared power and our future-shaping ideas.” We are asking the Give828.org community to help us to do just that by supporting us to train the next generation of young leaders, encourage community members to take action, and activate voters across the state.
