Recognized for our unique arts integrated curriculum and creative arts learning. Our mission is to provide a platform of personal expression, cultural awareness and social development through artistic creation and service learning for youth in Atlanta, Georgia. Our CAA scholarship will service youth learners ages 4-12 years with arts training, performance opportunities, cultural enrichment trips and participation in service-learning projects.
Our Story
Launched in 2015, the I AM ARTS Foundation is recognized for exposing and mentoring youth with quality arts education. Our mission is to provide a platform of personal expression, cultural awareness and social development through artistic creation and service learning for youth in Atlanta, Georgia.
Creative Arts Learning
Our Creative curriculum prepares students to be well rounded citizens in the arts and creative industries. Our youth “discover art” through mentorship and engagement in artistic training with professionals from all over the country. Our youth “create art” by becoming advocates and taking ownership of their artistic practice and they “give art” by the art of performance and developing their humanitarian landscape through meaningful community events.
Our History
Our Foundation was envisioned by three sisters that were raised in the underserved yet culturally enriched streets of Buffalo, New York. Their humble beginnings aided the development of intense passion, artistry and creativity. The African-American Cultural Center was a community center where exposure to the cultural arts became a lasting impression. Moreover, all siblings graduated from the Buffalo Academy for the Visual & Performing Arts, where each majored in dance, visual art and theater. Their vision was to create an organization where children could be cultivated in the visual and performing Arts; and use the arts to transform lives.
Our Philosophy
Our organization is shaped by professional teaching artists that lend not only arts integrated training but also mentorship. We recruit with intentionality. Our instructional basis is multi-dimensional and in turn inspires a new wave of “young creatives”. We expect our teaching artists to transcend traditional mindsets. It’s not “what they do”, but it’s “who they are”.
