Children who develop along a typical growth path frequently participate in community recreation activities like dance that enhance their social, emotional and physical development. However, children with developmental disabilities are rarely offered inclusion in dance education programs. TADA Foundation's Positive Motion program provides a service for an unmet need in our community. Our Program is based on research that dance for children with developmental disabilities helps foster balance, enhances socialization skills, increases spatial awareness, and improves the ability to move in all directions and follow instructions.

TADA Foundation’s approach is novel; traditional dance education has not typically included those with disabilities. We focus on each student's abilities and teaching them to be the strongest dancer they can be, rather than focusing on what they cannot do. The Positive Motion program fills a gap in the community for people with disabilities who do not participate in sports.

Funding will be used for scholarships - funding half of the expenses for a student for a year of classes and community-based performances. The student's family pays the other half.  Our classes provide instruction for the students and are focused on their individual skills and potential skill growth. Your support will help TADA Foundation serve more students with developmental disabilities and serve a need in our community.
