Karibu Community Legacy -Karibu means Welcome in Swahili and we are a nonprofit dedicated to providing culturally informed mental health and legal services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence in Metro Atlanta, with a focus on African immigrant and refugee communities.

KCL empowers survivors of sexual and domestic violence through comprehensive support and advocacy, providing vital resources to meet immediate and long-term physical, legal, emotional, and economic needs. Our culturally and linguistically tailored education and prevention programs equip underserved communities with the knowledge and skills to break cycles of violence and build a safer, more informed society.

Our services include confidential crisis intervention, case management, legal advocacy, court accompaniment, immigration assistance, victim compensation support, housing assistance, and referrals. With in-house interpretation in 19 languages, we provide culturally specific services that support safety, economic stability, housing, and workplace needs for African immigrant and refugee communities while welcoming and assisting any survivor who seeks help.

Like many nonprofits, Karibu has faced funding cuts, and public programs continue to fall short of meeting the needs of the most vulnerable. Yet every day, we remain steadfast in our work, ensuring that survivors have access to safety, healing, and dignified support.
