Karibu Community Legacy Inc

Karibu Community Legacy is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization established in 2019 to fill a gap of culturally sensitive mental health and legal services for underserved communities in sexual and domestic violence situations in the Metro Atlanta area, with cultural specialty in the African immigrant and refugee communities. 

KCL offers in-house services with twelve African languages and additional seven non-African languages. Our comprehensive programs and services range from prevention education and outreach to legal assistance, translations, counseling, Jobs and Safe house placements and more.

Karibu Community Legacy was generated from the founder's passion for standing against social injustice and violence. This passion was fueled for KCL's founder by personally being the victim and survivor of multiple crimes of violence. Some of these same crimes of violence was experienced by many in the founder's communities.

KCL's founder felt compelled to become an activist for many victims who also experienced ethnic cleansing, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Surviving the 1994 Rwandan genocide against Tutsi and the sexual violence that occurred during that time drove KCL's founder to earn a Master's in Conflict Reconstruction and Human Security. Karibu's founder chose to put her theoretical learning and skills to use by serving victims in her communities and abroad for 15 years. The creation of Karibu was built on survivorship, education, and 15 years of activism on three continents.  

Therefore, we at KCL would like to welcome and thank everyone that would join our journey in assisting those that rarely speaks out in order to foster a violence free community.
