Hello everyone! My name is Jurnee, and I’m a 5th grader at Davis Elementary School.
I was inspired to join the River City Race Program because of my big brother, Isaiah. He participated and raced last year, and I got the chance to visit the Race Headquarters a few times to watch him. I thought everything he was doing was so cool!
.
He was using tools, building small model cars, and learning how to make them go fast. Then he used what he learned to build his big race car and make it perform well. He also got to work with really nice people called engineers. They went on field trips, and I even remember when they had a practice race in front of our house...the whole neighborhood came out to watch. It was so exciting!
So when my principal, Dr. Williams selected me to participate this year, I was thrilled!
Since joining the program, I’ve been learning so many cool things. I even got to go on a field trip to the Atlanta Science Festival. The bus ride was fun because we learned about different sites and colleges along the way. When we got there, I met all kinds of people like scientists, computer programmers, and engineers. They were so nice and showed me some really amazing things.

After the festival, my teammates and I went to Andretti’s for some team building. I got to drive a race car, and now I feel like going down the big hill on race day won’t be so scary!
I’m so excited for race day, SATURDAY, MAy 16th at Lakebottom Park at 9:00am and I’m working really hard. I really hope either me or my brother wins so we can represent our school at the International Soap Box Derby this summer in Akron, Ohio.
That would be AMAZING!
Thank you for supporting me! 💙
