The mission-focused individuals that drive Southern Conservation Trust are passionate about rising above all expectations to protect land, water, and wildlife and to provide environmental education and access to natural areas for our community and future generations. Our passion is why we proudly take responsibility and commit to caring for the land we manage and protect. This deep-rooted passion connects our purpose with the legacy we work to create so that our organization will leave long-lasting philanthropic impacts in the Southeastern United States for all.

Our Values

  • Partnerships are central to everything we do, from partnering with elected officials on public nature projects to local farmers conserving their land.

  • Inspiring our communities, being exceptional stewards, and connecting all people to environmental education and access to nature because we believe everyone can be a steward and contribute to our legacy.

  • Ethically and strategically conserving land across the Southeast for future generations.

  • We are creating lasting change through the land we conserve in the Southeastern United States and the organization’s philanthropic impacts.

Purpose Statement

“The purpose of the Trust shall be to provide education to the public, provide public access to nature and outdoor recreation, and conserve nature for the benefit of the public in accordance with the mission statement of the Trust.”

About Us

The Southern Conservation Trust (SCT) was founded in 1993 by a group of like-minded Fayette County residents from diverse backgrounds eager to preserve natural resources and bring harmony to the disruptions experienced as the community expanded. Between 2016-2023, SCT has been at its best and grown exponentially from 3,537 impacted acres to over 55,000 across 13 states. SCT manages and provides access to nature at its five public nature areas in Fayette County, Georgia. It has expanded its environmental education efforts for all community members through the Fayette Environmental Education Center. SCT will impact the community over the next few years by expanding its nature center in acreage, developing a botanical garden, adding an additional education facility, and creating a community garden for all.

Southern Conservation Trust dedicates itself to elevating nature through exceptional stewardship. Our passion is why we proudly take responsibility and commit to caring for the land we manage and protect.
