Making History Together

For more than 70 years, the Thomasville History Center has worked to preserve and share the stories that make Thomas County unique. Our mission is simple yet powerful: “to connect the Red Hills’ past with its present to inspire and enrich current and future generations.”

We pursue that mission every day through exhibits, tours, lectures, and hands-on programs that make history accessible and relevant. Our youth educational programs, such as the annual Camp Dawson and ArchiCamp summer camps, cultivate curiosity and pride in local heritage.

Behind the scenes, we safeguard an extraordinary collection of more than 500,000 artifacts, photographs, and archival materials that document the people, places, and traditions of Thomas County. Each item helps tell the ongoing story of our community and is carefully cataloged, digitized, and preserved. Together, these resources serve as a lasting record, maintained for the benefit and use of current and future generations.

Our small but dedicated team works tirelessly to steward this legacy. Together, they guide a calendar of more than 30 annual public programs, including exhibitions, lectures, community events, and two primary fundraisers (Crate to Plate and Pilau) that support our operations year-round.

How You Can Help

As a small nonprofit, the Thomasville History Center depends on community support to continue this important work. Every tour, every exhibit, and every camp session is made possible through the generosity of people like you. Your donations help us care for historic buildings, maintain our collections, and provide meaningful educational experiences for thousands of visitors each year.

Your Impact

Your donation supports:

  • Preservation and care of eight historic buildings on our campus

  • Conservation of over 500,000 artifacts and archival items

  • Free and low-cost educational programs for students and families

  • Public events that connect our community through shared history

Every dollar helps us create new opportunities for learning, connection, and celebration.

Thank You for Your Support
