Since 1934, the Junior League of DeKalb County (JLD) has been a positive force for change, identifying and addressing critical needs throughout our community. Our mission is to advance women's leadership for community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Our legacy includes helping to establish many well-known nonprofits such as the Callanwolde Guild, Friends of Fernbank, the DeKalb Rape Crisis Center, and the International Women’s House. In 1980, we preserved a piece of DeKalb’s history by saving the Mary Gay House from destruction. Renamed “716 West” in 2022, it now serves as our League headquarters and a beautiful community rental venue.
Today, JLD continues to make an impact through projects and partnerships that support mental health, maternal health, general wellness, and professional development for women and families in DeKalb County. Our members volunteer and collaborate with local organizations to promote access to mental health resources, advocate for safe and supportive environments for mothers and children, and create initiatives that empower women to achieve personal and professional success. Our members are trained to create lasting, meaningful change through effective action and leadership — from building community programs and coordinating small to large-scale initiatives to serving on nonprofit boards.
With your financial support, the Junior League of DeKalb County can continue improving the lives of women and children in DeKalb County — strengthening the health, stability, and future of our community.
