A few weeks ago, we got a call from the food bank letting us know they had an unexpected surplus—fresh produce, meat, bread, and crates of essentials that could feed hundreds of families. They needed us to come quickly before everything spoiled.
I rushed to find volunteers, but we had no large truck to pick it all up. We showed up with three cars, a borrowed SUV, and the trunk space we could carry. By the time we arrived, most of the food had already been given to organizations with trucks. What was left barely filled one car.
Driving back, I thought about the families waiting at Dunbar Recreation Center… the seniors who depend on us every single week… the mothers who line up early because they don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
I thought about the 4,500 pounds of food we distributed in November alone—and how much more we could have delivered if we had the right equipment.
That day showed me something I’ll never forget:
Blessed Divas has the volunteers. We have the heart. We have the community. But without a food truck, we are leaving blessings behind.
A refrigerated truck would allow us to:
pick up large, last-minute donations
safely transport meat, dairy, and produce
expand the Blessing Pantry
support seniors and families across Fulton and beyond
save thousands of pounds of food that would otherwise go to waste
We are doing everything we can with what we have—but the need is bigger than the space in our cars.
A food truck isn’t just a wish. It’s a necessity. It’s the missing piece that will allow Blessed Divas to keep fighting food insecurity at the level our community deserves.
And that is why we need your support to help us get there.
