New update
As of November 24, 2025, the Helmet Campaign reached our goal, thanks to one very generous donor who completed the need with a one-time $2,500 gift. THANK YOU.
In 2007, one family in Johns Creek, Georgia collected 65 used bicycles and donated them to North Fulton Community Charities to be used at Toyland for holiday gifts. Bike Alpharetta. a Georgia 501c3 non-profit, took over the community program in 2014 as the request for 400 bikes was needed to help families in need. In 2025 the program will be 19 years old.
While we collect and repurpose up to 400 bikes each year, Bike Alpharetta now provides a new bike helmet with each bike provided to Toyland. Our focus is safety, so cost should not be an issue about whether to have a helmet or not for a child. It is also a Georgia law that children 15 years of age or younger must wear a helmet when operating a bicycle.
The wholesale cost for each helmet has almost doubled in the past 10 years, so we are in need of additional funds to purchase these items - adjustable bike helmets that meet U.S. CPSC Standards. All monetary donations from this special campaign are used to purchase the new helmets that are needed this year.
