Building the Herd, Expanding Hope

Just one year ago, Eloheh Equine opened its gates with a dream: to create a place where women facing cancer could find healing, encouragement, and peace through the unique connection between people and horses. That dream became reality! In our first year, we built our barn, established the foundation of our program, welcomed participants into our ministry, and witnessed firsthand the powerful impact of equine-assisted services on the lives of the women we serve.

Eloheh Equine is a Christ-centered nonprofit dedicated to providing free therapeutic horsemanship experiences for women undergoing cancer treatment or survivorship. A cancer diagnosis affects far more than the body. It can bring fear, uncertainty, isolation, and emotional exhaustion. Our program offers a welcoming space where participants can step away from medical appointments and treatments, connect with horses, build confidence, find community, and experience moments of joy, strength, and renewal.

Therapeutic horsemanship is uniquely effective because horses respond honestly and without judgment. Their sensitivity to human emotions encourages mindfulness, trust, confidence, and emotional healing. For many participants, time spent with a horse provides a rare opportunity to focus on hope rather than illness. The bond formed between horse and participant often creates lasting benefits that extend beyond the arena, helping women rediscover courage, resilience, and a sense of peace during one of life's most challenging journeys.

Now we are ready for the next step.

Our greatest need is expanding our herd. While our two horses have faithfully served throughout our first year, having only two horses significantly limits the number of participants we can accommodate and the types of needs we can meet. Every horse has a unique size, temperament, and personality. Just as every participant's journey is different, the best therapeutic partnerships happen when the right horse is matched with the right person.

Our goal for GA Gives 2026 is to raise $36,000 to add two additional horses to the Eloheh Equine family. These funds will also provide the tack, safety equipment, and year-long care each horse needs to participate safely and effectively in our program. Expanding our herd will allow us to serve more women, create better participant-horse matches, increase program capacity, and build a strong foundation for sustainable growth in the years ahead.
