For the past 13 years, Family Promise of North Fulton/DeKalb (FPNFD) has been helping local families experiencing homelessness or housing crises achieve sustainable housing and long-term self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. FPNFD recognizes that family homelessness and poverty are complex challenges that require comprehensive, innovative solutions. While we adhere to a "Housing First" approach, we also understand that homelessness is not just about shelter—families need holistic support to truly regain stability.

Family Promise programs work together to provide comprehensive support through the following initiatives:

Emergency Response: Preventing homelessness before it begins by offering preventative and diversion services to community members. Support may include gas or food gift cards, resource navigation, and referrals to partner agencies and government programs.

Rotational Shelter: Partnering with 12 faith-based organizations to house and feed families on a weekly rotating basis while providing intensive case management. Case managers develop individualized care plans that may include employment assistance, childcare coordination, car repairs or transportation support, financial literacy coaching, life-skills classes, mental health counseling, technology access, and help with outstanding utility bills or traffic fines. The goal is to first eliminate any barriers prohibiting parents from getting back to work and children into childcare. At that point, families can begin saving and, with dedicated case managers' support, move toward achieving independent or transitional housing.

Housing Stabilization: Offering aftercare support to families who have graduated from the Rotational Shelter program and moved into transitional or independent housing. This program provides ongoing mentoring, regular case management check-ins, and emergency financial assistance when needed. This support is critical during the period when families are most vulnerable to returning to homelessness.

Transitional Living: This program supports two families at a time, where they will focus on improving their credit scores, earning additional savings, and paying rent on a sliding scale to help reestablish tenant credibility. This program officially opened in August 2025, and we have our first two families in this program who are already thriving!
