A FreeWishes Christmas

The holidays are the worst time of year to be in a financial hardship --not because of selfish demands, but because of the pressure to feel normal. When there isn't enough money to get a tree, decorate, have a special meal and get presents, it is not always easy to explain to young children. Imagine looking into the eyes of children and trying to muster up the courage to tell them that when they wake up on Christmas morning, they should expect nothing. Neither one of us could imagine. And if you've ever experience that type of heartbreak as a kid before, you know how gut-wrenching that can be. 

We are talking about children. Children who excitedly write wish lists for Santa. Children whose friends talk about what their family does for the holidays. Children who feel left out or ask for basic needs to be met as their presents.

For families who are struggling during the holidays, friendly, charitable gestures offer relief. FreeWishes provides help for bills, gifts, food and clothing. Donations to our organization help low-income families from marginalized communities throughout the Metro Atlanta area.

The knowledge that your gift will help provide holiday cheer for a child or family who would have gone without will instill a wonderful sense of pride and the true meaning of altruism.
