Thanks for your support, everyone! The kids come in just a little over a week and we are very excited!
June 15th-July 28th, 2017, my husband Don McLean and I will be bringing a brother (10 yrs old) and sister (12 yrs old) from an orphanage in Eastern Europe to live with us through the non-profit organization Project 143. Project 143 allows children who are surrounded by war and poverty to enjoy a summer as children in a family where they are loved. We hope to help raise their spirits, confidence, and independence while teaching them practical life skills and a little English in the process.
We will be covering the costs for meals, family trips, activities, and daily expenses. As a private music instructor, I will also be donating all of my May lesson earnings to this cause. We are asking for your support in paying the program fees ($2750 per child) and airfare within the US (approximately $1800 total for the children and a chaperone). We will also be looking for donated/loaned items such as sporting items, games, gently-used clothes, and toys.
