Dear Supporters and Friends,

We live in a global era in which we may feel that we cannot make a difference. However, every good deed we do carries a great deal of positive impact and has the potential of making a difference in the lives of those in need.

Since its inception in early 2017, thanks to the generosity of many donors, SCN Atlanta has assisted with a little over $32,000 in rent, over $2500 in utility bills, and $16,000 in car purchases and repair. Additionally, through our Amazon wish list, our supporters helped us provide essential household items to 40 homes ($800/family). We have also helped with furniture donations kindly donated by community members.

We held several drives this year, including a clothing drive, a hygiene items drive, a computer drive where about 100 PCs/notebooks were distributed to the refugee community and a blanket drive where we delivered $4000 worth of new blankets to 110 families. We also provided financial, spiritual and psychological support in their native language. In addition, we worked closely with resettlement agencies such as New American Pathway and World Relief for the betterment of our mutual clients.

We have many plans for 2018 including getting our very own community center where refugees cannot only meet but also attend a series of classes designed to help them acclimate to life here in the US. Some of these classes will include social awareness workshops, cultural orientation classes, sessions on safe driving, employment and resume workshops and much more! We are also excited to work alongside grassroots organizations that empower our young refugees such as Mentoring Initiative for New Americans (MINA). We hope to facilitate young refugees entry into college and give them the support needed to succeed.

We couldn’t have done this important charitable work without the support of our generous donors, dedicated volunteers, valuable partners, board members, and staff. We are extremely grateful to each one of them!
