My father started Haliburton Demolition & Grading over 40 years ago. He is now 82 years old and began to look for skilled workers to help him out. Well there were no reliable skilled workers to be found in our area that could actually operate heavy equipment. He told me about this dilemma last year. And my suggestion was with all the years of expertise in heavy equipment operations, he could teach people what he knew, thus creating skilled workers for not just himself but other companies as well. I took on the task of creating a structured curriculum in Partnership with the National Center for Construction Education & research. And in January created Haliburton Heavy Equipment Operator School.

With the vast amount of infrastructure coming to metro Atlanta. We saw a problem with the shortage of skilled laborers in the construction industry. And decided to help by creating a school that would teach those in the community and surrounding area a skilled trade that would help fill the gap of skilled worker shortage. We created a 6 week program where students will learn to operate 5 pieces of most commonly used heavy equipment and become Safety certified. At the end of the program students receive a certificate and 3 safety certifications. They can also participate in a 1 week externship with a local construction company.
