Giving Tuesday

With a vision of artistic excellence, Orbit Theatrical’s mission is to help advance wide access to training, outreach programs, masterclasses, and performances for aspiring young performers in Sandy Springs, GA, and its surrounding communities. It does this by raising private support to fund student arts scholarships; underwrite performances and masterclasses; facilitate a growing network of Broadway artists who wish to collaborate with and train its students; and ensure that appropriate space, equipment, and facilities are available to students who attend its sister organization, Orbit Arts Academy.

Orbit Theatrical had to cancel its Spring 2020 productions of Zombie Prom, Leap of Faith, and Seussical due to gathering restrictions and safety related to COVID-19. We quickly pivoted to online service delivery through the spring and summer, then resumed in-person classes and performances this fall with strict safety and sanitation protocols. Reduced class sizes and increased expenses for COVID-19 mitigation has put a strain on our organization, but we remain committed to bringing the best in performing arts training to our region.

Our organization is not unique - the performing arts have been hit particularly hard with this pandemic. Expenses for production items like rights/royalties, sets, costumes, props, and staff salaries will likely not be recouped through ticket sales, so performing arts organizations are looking to loans, grants, and the generosity of its patrons to stay strong through this difficult time.
