Food 4 the Hungry

Our main program,  Food 4 the Hungry is a supplemental grocery program operating on the 3rd Saturday of each month working out of Otwell Middle School’s cafeteria, supplying canned goods, baking products, pasta, breakfast, toiletries, bread, bakery, frozen meat, coffee and occasionally cleaning products. 

The families of Forsyth County we serve could be a family in a high-end subdivision, who has been laid off of work, and they may be sleeping on bare mattresses.  Other families could be living in a single-wide 1970 mobile home with holes in the roof, floor, and the sheets of siding blowing in the wind held by a single screw.  Others may be living in a small, older home either a family home passed down or from a slum lord in much the same condition.  The descendants of generational families of N. Georgia are a proud people.  They won’t tell you if they can’t read or write to complete the forms for the teacher, or their well is out of water or their electricity has been cut off and the pump and refrigerator don’t run. They will ask their older teens to move out on their own so that there will be enough food in the family to feed the younger children.  This is a major contributing factor in Human Trafficking.
