At just 12 years old, Sofía joined Latina Leads struggling with confidence and unsure of her strengths and with self-harm tendencies. As the daughter of immigrant parents, she felt pressure to succeed but lacked the guidance and mentorship to see herself as a leader.

Through Latina Leads programs—leadership development, self-esteem workshops, financial literacy, and hands-on STEM sessions—Sofía discovered her voice. She learned to speak confidently in front of her peers, design a basic business plan, and envision a future full of possibility.

Her favorite part? Meeting Latina mentors who looked like her, understood her experiences, and showed her what is possible.

Today, Maria is thriving. She is a top student, proudly calls herself a leader, and dreams of becoming an engineer. She believes she can — because someone believed in her.

Latina Leads, a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Atlanta, Georgia, empowers Latina girls ages 7–16 to become active leaders in their communities through programs focused on:

Over the past three years, we have positively impacted the lives of more than 400 girls through workshops, summer camps, and conferences.

We harness the power of mentorship by inviting successful women to serve as role models—guiding and inspiring the next generation of Latina leaders.
