Karan’s Fundraiser for EEA 2022

As a mom, I discovered how important it was to connect my kids with nature and give them opportunities to wander the woods, skip rocks, make daisy chains - even get bored outside. Like David Sobel says, we can't expect our children to save the earth before they have a chance to know and love it. 

And as a mom, I also wanted them to have the knowledge, skills, and power to make a difference in the world. 

As a facilitator of teacher workshops on outdoor learning, I am continually inspired by exemplary educators who help students make real world connections and try their hand at solving bite-sized environmental problems in the schoolyard.

And as executive director of Environmental Education Alliance, I am excited about what we are accomplishing to advance the field of environmental and outdoor education. The highlight of the past year, for me, was inviting our partners to testify before the Senate Study Committee on Outdoor Learning to advocate for GOLD grants, which were funded by the state legislature!
