This is a year unlike any other for Coralwood. Therefore, the Coralwood Foundation is striving to support our school community in unique ways.
What is #GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities. GivingTuesday emphasizes opportunities to give back to communities and causes in safe ways that allow for social connection and kindness even while practicing physical distancing.
How is Coralwood partnering with GivingTuesday?
This year we will condense our fundraising into one event. In lieu of the full Challenge and Auction, GivingTuesday will precede and merge with an abbreviated two week Challenge in February. Your donations to our Challenge help us fund events for students (such as the Homecoming Dance Party and in-school/virtual field trips) and equipment for outfitting classrooms beyond the basics from the county.
What is the Coralwood Foundation?
The Coralwood Foundation was created to ensure Coralwood School has the resources necessary to provide outstanding inclusion education. The Foundation raises funds to bridge the gap between what Coralwood receives from school district funding and what it needs to provide life-changing education.
How can I support Coralwood?
People can show their generosity in a variety of ways during GivingTuesday—whether it’s helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes, every act of generosity counts.
What does the money raised this year fund?
Each year we fund projects in one or more of the Foundation’s three focus areas: technology, infrastructure, and teacher training. The Challenge is designed to address existing Coralwood needs in these areas, but is flexible enough to address critical needs that may emerge during the school year such as virtual learning needs.
This year, Challenge funds will be used to purchase items needed for our Specials classes. With the exciting addition and renovation to the Coralwood school building, we have lots of opportunities to help enhance the art, music, STEM, and physical education spaces and classrooms. These improvements will benefit all current and future Coralwood students and teachers.
How will my child benefit?
Your child will benefit in a multitude of ways! When your child plays on the playground, he/she is playing on equipment funded by previous Challenge funds. When your child learns using iPads in the classroom, he/she is learning with an iPad funded by previous Challenge funds. Your child's teachers have gained valuable training opportunities in Lindamood Bell, Lucy Caulkins, and Orton Gillingham, and these trainings were paid for by previous Challenge funds. These are just a few examples of the many, many opportunities provided to students by the Coralwood Challenge funding each year.
Your donation will be credited toward incentives for your child and his/her class when we begin the Challenge in February.
