Providing Comfort to Kids Affected by COVID-19

H2H, Inc. is a community based organization that focuses on bringing aid to those in need. Founded in 2006, H2H serves thousands of people each year through initiatives focusing on youth and those who are homeless. We take pride in encouraging and supporting young people who have an interest in giving back in their communities. This year, we are excited to support one of our youth leaders, C.J. Matthews, a Giving Tuesday Spark youth leader, in reaching his Giving Tuesday goal to provide comfort to 1,000 kids in Atlanta. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, C.J. has been creating and donating comfort bags for Atlanta kids who are sheltering in place. The bags include activities, books, and writing tools to keep them engaged, healthy snacks, and hygiene products. Each bag is valued at $15 minimum. For the past 7 years, during winter, C.J. collects and donates blankets to kids who are dealing with traumatic situations or illness and in need of an extra dose of comfort. This 13 year old, 8th grader knows tragedy as he started his charitable work with his project, Blankies 4 My Buddies, when his mother experienced a pregnancy loss when he was only five years old. It was then he told his parents that he never wanted any other child to feel the grief and loneliness he felt when his baby sister did not come home.
