I am honored to be a model at the upcoming CASA on the Catwalk event, taking place on April 14th in Buckhead. Funds raised at the event benefit Georgia Court Appointed Special Advocates, Inc.(Georgia CASA), an Atlanta-based nonprofit. It is an amazing organization that provides best interest advocacy for children experiencing foster care. Supporting CASA is important to me because every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and advocated for. When a child doesn’t have a voice, organizations like CASA step in with compassion and consistency. I believe we all have a responsibility to stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves.
You may wonder what Georgia CASA is all about. Put simply, juvenile court judges appoint CASA volunteers to children in foster care to advocate for their best interests. They help to meet the needs of the children and ensure they have the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential with the support of permanent connections to family. This past year, over 8,100 children in Georgia were served by 2,660 trained and supervised CASA volunteers.

Our resources over the past year enabled us to serve 50% of the state’s nearly 16,000 children in foster care. We need more CASA volunteers to serve more children who are in foster care in our state. Our goal is to recruit 1,000 new CASA volunteers to serve an additional 3,000 children by the end of 2026 - approximately 75% of the children in foster care. With the support of people like you, our goal can be within reach.
