Southface Creates Sustainability
Southface Institute needs your help to create a more sustainable Southeast. We are engineers, advocates, consultants and educators that have one goal in mind: to create built environments where everyone can thrive.
We do this work by empowering neighborhoods, uplifting communities and engineering today's buildings for tomorrow.
Empowering Neighborhoods
Southface's Atlanta CREW (Culture-Resilience-Environment-Workforce) program empowers neighborhood residents to take flood prevention into their own hands by installing and managing green infrastructure gardens in their community.
Over the course of a week, the Atlanta CREW cohort took a chronically flooded apartment complex and turned its problem areas into a bioswale that will address the apartment's flooding issues for years to come.
Southface uplifts other community nonprofits by helping them reduce water, electricity and HVAC usage, minimizing operational costs so that they can focus on what really matters — their mission and those they serve.
Through our nonprofit solutions, GoodUse and NEWE, we've been able to help over 250 organizations across the nation put over 11 million dollars toward their missions.
Engineering Today's Buildings for Tomorrow
Thirty-nine percent of the world's greenhouse gases come from buildings.* Southface's BIT Building program sets out to lower that percentage by providing a tool kit of eco-friendly and emission-reduction guidelines for building managers. Our goal is to provide expert consulting and resources to help adapt today's buildings for tomorrow's world.
