Caminar Latino - Latinos United for Peace & Equity's mission is to create opportunities for Latino families to transform their lives and communities by changing the social conditions that give rise to violence. We are Georgia’s first and only comprehensive domestic violence intervention program for Latino families, and we provide support to other nonprofits, advocates in the field, government agencies, and business to address and end gender-based violence.
Community support helps makes our work possible, and this Giving Tuesday, your gift will go TWICE as far. Our Board of Directors is offering to match every gift—dollar for dollar—up to $2,500. Show your support for our mission to end gender-based violence by making your gift today!
Please help me to celebrate and honor my 30th year in the advocacy movement for individuals, families and communities impacted by gender base violence by giving to my place of work, Caminar Latino-Latinos United for Peace and Equity (LUPE). As our name indicates, our orientation and efforts are towards PEACE and EQUITY. Please support our incredibly HOPEFUL and HARD work.
A bit about my journey...I started volunteering in the children's program at MiddleWay House in Bloomington, Indiana in the Fall of 1994, a freshman at Indiana University. Soon after I was fortunate to intern at White Buffalo Calf Woman Society on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. I then moved to Texas (as soon as I could!) and began working statewide addressing policy issues to create a better landscape for survivors and their families. I've now pivoted to national advocacy with Caminar Latino-LUPE. We center Latino families, learning and drawing from culture as a vast and and abundant source of healing and protection by and for communities.
