The Max Gruver Foundation strives to create awareness, education, policy and laws to prevent hazing.  Attention to drugs, alcohol, and bullying are part of the education and awareness measures, as they are often used in hazing events.

Max Gruver’s parents started the organization after their son Max died due to a hazing incident at LSU in 2017.  Max was pledging Phi Delta Theta and was forced to consume 190 proof grain alcohol during a hazing event called “Bible Study”.  Max died from alcohol intoxication with aspiration.  His blood alcohol concentration was .496, six times the legal limit.

The Gruvers have committed themselves to changing the hazing culture so no other family has to suffer such a senseless and 100% preventable loss. Max’s death was not an accident because hazing is not an accident. The Gruvers have spent the last 5 years traveling across the country to raise awareness and educate on the dangers of hazing.

Join us in supporting the foundation created to honor Max’s memory and to help keep others safe. You can find out more at www.maxgruverfoundation.com
