Guidelines and Rules

  • The GAgives on GivingTuesday giving period begins at 12:00 am on November 1, 2024 and ends at 11:59 pm on December 3rd, 2024.
  • Donors may opt to hide their donations from the public during the checkout process, but these donations WILL be counted toward your total count for prizes. (Opting to hide a donation means that the nonprofit will still receive donor contact information, but donor names will not be posted publicly anywhere on the GAgives.org website.)
  • There is a $5 minimum for each donation on the GAgives.org platform.
  • Organizations cannot donate to themselves but may use their own funds to promote giving via a challenge or matching fund.
  • Donations may not be used to pay for anything that might be perceived as a material benefit to the donor, including memberships, admission tickets, payments for tuition, payments for event tickets, etc.
  • Due to the immediacy of the tax benefit, donations made on GAgives.org are final and cannot be refunded.

Eligible organizations are defined as any organization that has:

  • been qualified by the IRS as a 501c3 and registered with the Georgia Secretary of State
  • set up a page on GAgives.org to accept donations and registered for GAgives prizes, AND
  • has a physical location or mailing address in Georgia.

In addition, there may be additional eligibility requirements for specific prizes; please review the rules for each prize carefully!

  • Nonprofits must be registered to compete for all GAgives prizes by no later than 11:59 pm on October 11, 2024. Unsure if you’re registered? You can verify your status in the Overview Screen on your organization’s GAgives.org dashboard.
  • Prize funds are available exclusively to qualifying agencies. GAgives reserves the right to verify qualifying information and revoke, change, or award prizes at its discretion.
  • Eligibility for cause-specific Leaderboard and Power Hour prizes is determined and reviewed by the GAgives team.
  • Progress toward prizes will be tracked and listed on GAgives.org throughout GivingTuesday, but all prizes are subject to verification after the event concludes. Prizes may be reversed up to 60 days after the event if proven invalid.
  • A “unique donor” is defined as a single individual or entity making an online donation via GAgives.org, as identified by a unique email address. For the purposes of determining prize winners, multiple donations from one donor will equate to one unique donor.
  • All time-specific prizes are calculated via time-stamped data.
  • We strive to validate all donations and process prize payments within 60 days. If for some reason the verification process takes longer than 60 days, we will notify the nonprofit(s) or donor(s) impacted.
  • We encourage nonprofits competing for prizes to include hashtags and link to social media pages (using @) associated with each sponsor. The GAgives team may request quotes or letters of thanks from winners to share with partners.
  • Leaderboards are calculated via the number of gifts received from 12:00 am on November 1, 2024, through 11:59 pm on December 3rd, 2024. Online and offline donations may be counted toward this total. For instructions on entering offline donations manually, please see this Mightycause article.
  • Each nonprofit may win no more than one Leaderboard prize.
  • As stated in the General Prize Rules above, donations and eligibility will be validated prior to prize disbursement.
  • Only donations made online on the GAgives.org platform (via credit card, ACH, Apple Pay, or PayPal) will qualify for Power Hours and Golden Tickets.
  • Eligibility requirements may vary per sponsoring partner; see individual prize descriptions (above) for details.
  • As stated in the General Prize Rules above, donations and eligibility will be validated prior to prize disbursement.
  • Each organization may win no more than one Golden Ticket or Power Hour on December 3rd, 2024.
