Donate Today – Help Us Free, Heal, and Uplift Women Trapped by Georgia’s Broken System

At Women on the Rise, we are working tirelessly to change policies in Georgia that disproportionately harm Black and Brown women and tear their families apart. Hidden within this unjust system is a parole process that lacks transparency, silently "disappearing" our loved ones into prisons for years—sometimes for life.

Right now, 381 women are serving life sentences in Georgia prisons—women who are more than a number. They are mothers, daughters, partners, and caregivers. Imagine if it were your sister, mother, or best friend—trapped in a cage, cut off from the people who need her the most. Imagine how you’d feel if it were you. What would it be like to know that no matter how much you changed, you might never get another chance at freedom?

This system doesn’t offer healing—it only punishes. Women, many of whom are survivors of abuse, are incarcerated instead of supported. They experience trauma behind bars that only deepens with time. And when they’re gone, their children, parents, and families are left to suffer without them, often with no one to fill the void they leave behind.

But they deserve more than life behind bars. We believe in their freedom and in the power of their stories. They are more than a number—they are lives worth fighting for. With your help, we can bring their stories to the forefront, demand reform, and reunite these women with their families.

Your donation directly funds:

  • Educating families of incarcerated women to prepare powerful parole packets, helping them avoid expensive legal fees.
  • Amplifying the stories of women serving life sentences, ensuring their voices are heard and their experiences are seen.
  • Connecting incarcerated women to a community of support with justice-impacted women and advocates.
  • Equipping our team with the resources necessary to push for systemic parole reform, ensuring more women can return home to their loved ones.

What if these 381 women were your family? How would you want the world to respond if your loved one’s future depended on it—or if your own did? Together, we can create a world where no woman is reduced to just a number and where every life receives the dignity, healing, and justice it deserves.

Donate now—because every story matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and every life is worth fighting for.
