Mission:
Empowering fathers in recovery to achieve self-sufficiency and attain housing and financial sustainability.
Our Story:
Since its founding in 2020, William’s House has addressed the pressing need for specialized support for homeless and housing-insecure fathers in recovery in North Fulton, Georgia and statewide. Its mission has grown in response to the critical gaps revealed by the 2022 North Fulton County Homelessness Needs Assessment (United Way partnership), confirming that fathers and their children remain among the most vulnerable, underserved populations.
William’s House delivers a comprehensive two-to-five-year Family Empowerment Program grounded in six pillars: Housing Stability, Financial Literacy & Wealth Building, Family Counseling, Physical & Mental Wellness, Sobriety Maintenance, and Career Advancement. Through “HopeYards,” our evidence-informed, nature-centered expansion, we meet the urgent behavioral health, digital wellbeing, and personal empowerment needs of families experiencing addiction, trauma, and systemic barriers to stability.
Did You Know?
In 2018, an estimated 3,298 individuals were experiencing homelessness in Fulton County. While the overall number has steadily declined since 2010, people facing homelessness in Fulton County — particularly in Atlanta — still account for one-third of all homeless cases in Georgia. This rate is more than 130% higher than the next highest county, Hennepin County, Minnesota.
Although several homeless shelters operate in downtown Atlanta, the city continues to face a severe shortage of affordable housing options. With 40% of Americans only one missed paycheck away from poverty — the demand for accessible, stable housing is greater than ever, especially in the wake of the economic upheaval caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
