Do you know the impact 24 hours can have on a personal journey of independence?

In 24 hours a person with a disability can recieve:

  •  Home modifications to keep them safely at home in their community.
  • Emergency Preparedness support for planning and managing times of uncertainty.
  • Advocacy Support to have an active say in their lives.
  • Adaptive sports opportunities to stay active and engaged.
  • Employment preparedness training and guidance on their job search.
  •  Assistive Technology providing accommodations in daily life.
  • And so much more!

Some see Giving Tuesday as a day of giving back to their community. We at Walton Options see it as a day of giving independence and inclusion. Your support this year can make an impact in the lives of our consumers as they travel on their personal journey of independence.

The Options are still Endless!
2020 might not have been the year we had planned but we have not let that stop us from our mission. Throughout the pandemic, we have continued to offer support and a voice to the disability community and our consumers. We have adapted to offer our services safely from a distance and continued to provide options! We have been out in the community working with local organizations to distribute Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as masks, hand sanitizer, and valuable emergency preparedness information to persons with disabilities in our service areas. Your donation will assist us as we work to safely reach our consumers in all our counties to be sure they have the resources they need during the pandemic.

Serving in New Ways

The challenges this year has brought are ones that have made us look at new ways to adapt and innovate. While our in-office interactions are limited, our services are not! The disability community is known for thinking outside the box and we are excited that we are doing the same. Through online video platforms, we have been able to continue to host our Life Skills Classes, our Peer Support Groups, Social Security Benefits Counseling, our OH YEA! careerBOOST Youth Transitions program, as well as one-to-one consumer meetings.

We hosted an online Virtual Week of fun with trivia, music, and suprise guests!  We also hosted Parking Lot Peers to bring our consumers together in person in a safe environmnet to interact and support one another. Continuing our services takes time, resources, and staff. The contribution you make helps us continue to utilize and grow these new resources to serve our consumers.

Additionally, we have been able to continue to offer home modifications throughout 2020. This is vitally important because an accessible home means consumers can safely continue to live and be an active part of their community. Inclusion in the community, especially during these unprecendented times, is important for persons with disabilities. We have also been able to continue our assistive technology program, STAR. We have been able to connect your consumers with the tools they need to maintain their independence. The support you give today helps us to continue to meet the needs of those on our waiting lists.

At Walton Options, our mission i to provide Options for persons with disabilities in the CSRA & SC Low Country. We do this through promoting Equality, Inclusion, and Independence through Personal Choice, Community Access, Education, & Employment. Our goal is to help each person find and utilize the necessary, available resources on their personal journey to independence.

The gift you give is not just supporting options for persons with disabilities. Your donation today supports the programs that build independence and lays the foundations of options in the CSRA.

As a private, non-profit, non-residential Center for Independent Living (CIL), we believe all persons, including those with disabilities should be able to participate in community activities with every aspect accessible for all. We are continuing this mission daily with resources and support.

Donations through GA Gives assist us with continuing to provide durable medical equipment and assistive technology, hosting Independent Life Skills Training classes, and so much more.
