Vitiligo is an auto-immune (non-contagious) disorder that causes white patches on the skin. At National Vitiligo Bond Inc Foundation, we work with those who suffer from low self-esteem due to vitiligo – especially the youth, who are often bullied because of the skin condition. We have helped established over 20 support groups in the USA to help members cope with suicide ideations. We have been used as a model internationally for several organizations. Our mission is to generate awareness, empowerment, and support for our members. With the help of U.S. Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson and support of the American Academy of Dermatology Association, we introduced a resolution in 2017 expressing support for establishing a USA National Vitiligo Awareness Day. By enacting this resolution, we hope to give our community a greater measure of visibility, acceptance, and hope.  At Vitiligo Bond we believe awareness is key to reducing the stigma of living with vitiligo. #destigmatizevitiligo #antibullying #suicideprevention #domesticviolenceprevention #diversityandinclusionin
