When we care like a kid, we see endless possibilities.

Join United Way of Greater Atlanta as we envision a better community for children and families. A community with access, resources and opportunities. A community where everyone can achieve their dreams and goals. A community where all the children are well. 

Our 2023 Child Well-Being Index data shows that right now, nearly 500,000 out of Greater Atlanta's 1.2 million children live in high-need areas. And 77,000 of those kids live in areas where the need is high and increasing. That means they may not have access to safe housing, healthy food, or educational opportunities that they need to thrive. But together, we can change that. 

Let's care like kids—and put that caring into action. 

This past year, thanks to the generosity of donors, we brought partners together to make real, lasting change for kids—and their futures. 

Here's what we've accomplished together in the past year:

• 90,000 improvements to advance children’s learning skills, meaning...More Pre-K students are prepared for school. More children with special needs and in foster care get extra educational support. More educators and mentors are trained to help children become stronger learners.

• 26,000 improvements to prepare youth for college and careers, meaning...More youth succeed academically and are able to advance to the next grade. More youth graduate from high school. More youth apply for college. More college applicants access the funds they need to pay for school.

• Improved the living situation for 45,000 people, meaning...More families are in safe, long-term housing. Fewer children move from school to school because of homelessness. More LGBTQ+ youth achieved stable employment and housing. More individuals can manage their health so it doesn’t jeopardize their finances or employment.

Right now, nearly half a million children in Greater Atlanta live in communities with low child well-being.
