$5,000 Goal

The Creatives Project’s mission to enrich and strengthen local communities through quality arts-based education and outreach, while celebrating and elevating the city's creative talents through local artist residency programs.

Founded in 2011, The Creatives Project (TCP) emerged from a fundamental need to connect unused resources with Atlanta's diverse, yet separated, communities who lacked outlets for creative expression. TCP wants to change the face of the city by helping uplift the voices of those not often heard, while inspiring emerging artists and underserved communities to leave a lasting impact on Atlanta.

TCP’s primary program is our Artist-In-Studio Residency through which a cohort of carefully selected artists are granted free studio space for a two year period and in return provide up to 12 hours a month of hands-on arts education outreach to disadvantaged community members. Our work provides these talented visual artists a stable place to create and an experience of community service which enhances their careers while directly impacting disadvantaged communities. Our sixth artist cohort was announced in January 2020 and will serve through the end of 2021.

This year TCP will launch an Alumni Residency program in order to extend our support of previous Artist-In-Studio participants. Fifteen alumni artists will come together to breathe new life into an empty shopping center in South East Atlanta. Each artist will receive free studio space in exchange for producing publicly accessible programming in the form of an artist led workshop, open-studio event, or lecture. The site will also include gallery space so participating artists can regularly display their work.

In late 2020, TCP will also launch ARTFORCE, an expansion of our residency program that will provide ten artists with flexible below market apartments at the new Academy Lofts in south west Atlanta’s Adair Park neighborhood. Art-Force residents will have access to additional TCP amenities on and off site such as studios, classrooms, and gallery space. As with all of our residency programming, artists will be required to serve the surrounding communities through hands on arts educational programming.
