Steamsport Inc

STEAMsport, Inc. provides free out of school STEAM exposure, education and competition to students from underserved communities. Our mission is to break the chain of generational poverty for these students through the development of an educational pipeline leading to STEAM related careers. Our goal is to increase the number of minorities with careers in STEAM industries by providing students science, technology, engineering, arts and math programming at a young age through our STEAM For All project.

STEM occupations are forecasted to grow at a rate over 76% higher than non-STEM jobs nationwide (2020 Bureau of Labor Statistics). STEM jobs are important for any region's economy because of their increased prevalence and their significantly higher wages. In 2020, the average pay for STEM employment was $84,880 compared to $37,020 for non-STEM occupations. 

Unfortunately, minorities are vastly underrepresented in the current STEM workforce. Several factors prevent students in underserved communities from embarking on a path to a STEM education and pursuing a STEM career. Some of these include socio-economic barriers, lack of transportation to attend quality programs, lack of affordable out of school time STEM programs, and negative cultural influences. Our STEAM For All project is intentionally designed for underprivileged students to overcome barriers to pursuing a STEAM education and career.

Contributing to the STEAM For All project helps us serve more students and sets them on a path leading to the largest growing and highest paying sector of the US workforce.  Without STEAM For All, many of the students living in STEAMsport's target communities will miss opportunities for exposure to free quality STEAM programming which could change the trajectory of their future. Our goal is to raise $14,875 to provide FREE STEAM education to one hundred (100) students living in underserved communities for one (1) programmatic year.
