Southern Partners Fund Inc

A nonprofit organization

On August 30, 2012, SPF established the Southeast Voter Engagement Network(SEVEN) connecting more than thirty rural, grassroots groups from seven Southern states together to share and coordinate voter engagement strategies and to build a solid network.

To further assist the network in strengthening its outreach efforts SPF recently awarded $40,000 in small voter engagement grants supporting poll monitoring, registration, access to VAN, door knocking, and targeted GOTV activity, to twenty-five groups working in traditionally under resourced rural areas in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Rural areas of the South contain large numbers of unregistered voters, new citizens, and unlikely voters of color.  Rural areas are growing in total population throughout the South, which makes them a rich field for expanding participation in our political processes.

Southern Partners Fund is a 501(c)(3) public foundation serving grassroots organizations in rural communities across 12 states; Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Our Mission is to support rural Southern communities and organizations seeking social, economic, and environmental justice by providing them with financial resources, technical assistance and training, and access to systems of information and power to shift the balance of power in their communities.

If you are interested in providing additional funding to support voter engagement in the rural South please contact Rose Johnson, SPF Interim Assistant Director email:rjohnson@spfund.org, donate online@www.spfund.org or call 404.541.9091 ext. 124.
