ABOUT US
Founded in 2003, the Sisters Empowerment Network, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization that began when the founder Veda Brown called a meeting with a group of her friends to discuss issues and concerns that affect women which included a conversation on devastating impact of domestic violence in the United States and its impact on destroying the cohesiveness in the family unit. In 2006, SEN was incorporated as a not-for profit organization.
For over 15 years, Sisters Empowerment Network, Inc. (SEN) has been committed to supporting women and girls, including victims of domestic violence and the community at large through information, resources, referrals and services which includes but not limited to: career services, financial management, parenting, in addition to counseling and legal services.
OUR BELIEF
Sisters Empowerment Network, Inc. believes that empowerment is the cornerstone of women's progress. We strive to empower women and girls to ensure they have access to all the emotional, economical and social resources, services and information available to achieve or maintain self-sufficiency. We chose women because life begins through us. We have a moral responsibility to become independent, self-sufficient women to help break the cycle of broken homes and dysfunctional families, to building strong, secure family structures for generations to come.
OUR MISSION
The mission of Sisters Empowerment Network, Inc. is to help educate women and girls including but not limited to victims of domestic violence in becoming or maintaining self-sufficiency. We do this by helping prepare them to achieve their full potential through support services, referrals, training, leadership and career development. As advocates for social change, we advance our mission by empowering women to realize their full potential which ultimately can assist with breaking the cycle of poverty, create prosperity, and create other transformative outcomes by providing information, tangible resources and services to women and girls. To offer supportive programming through workshops and seminars and by maintaining a multi-purpose networking facility from which to serve women and girls. Our belief is by supporting women and girls, we can turn abysmal indicators around and begin to solve many of the world’s most critical problems that affect them.
OUR VISION
To model a positive environment where women can make their own life choices for themselves and their children that is safe, respectful and healthy. Our focus is to create a unified, diverse, inclusive community where all people are free to live a peaceful, productive, violent free life.
OUR STRATEGY
To provide services to women and girls including those whose lives have been affected by domestic violence-physically and emotionally and other violations against women and girls. We aim to become a clearinghouse of services, information and referrals to nurture the full inclusion, at all levels, of the widest variety of local services, shelters, legal services and more.
