Why Your Donation Matters

Your generosity helps change lives — just like it did for Mr. F.

At only 19 years old, Mr. F. was referred to Ser Familia after enduring a traumatic incident in which his father, in a moment of anger, attacked him and his sister and discharged a firearm. Thankfully, no one was injured. Born in the United States to Mexican parents, Mr. F. began receiving holistic care through Ser Familia’s programs, with a treatment plan designed specifically for his needs as a young adult.

Through his participation in the Strengthening Families and Healthy Relationships programs, along with individual counseling and continuous case management, Mr. F. has made incredible progress. He has learned to manage his emotions in a healthier way, improve his behavior, and practice mindfulness to handle daily challenges.

His relationship with his mother has also grown stronger — he now looks for ways to support her more at home. He recently finished high school, started working, and plans to pursue a short career program. Though he does not have direct contact with his father, Mr. F. is taking healthy steps toward reconciliation, even writing a letter to his father on Father’s Day as part of his healing journey.

With the right support, Mr. F. is learning to face his challenges with resilience and hope, planning for a brighter future ahead.
