SEFAA: Threads That Shape Our Lives

SEFAA (Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance) creates exceptional textile-focused learning opportunities, preserves timeless textile traditions, and nurtures a vibrant community where fiber artists of all abilities thrive. But, vibrant communities like ours don't just happen, they are crafted, stitch by stitch, with passion, dedication, and generous support.

When you pull on your favorite sweater or T-shirt or wrap up in a quilt, or even sit in the seat of your car, you’re surrounded by textiles. Fiber arts aren’t just about fabric and thread—they are about connection, innovation, and resilience.

From the very beginning of civilization, textiles have clothed us, sheltered us, and given us the means to express identity and culture. Today, they are equally powerful in shaping our modern lives:

  • Community:  Quilting circles, knitting groups, and guilds bring people together, creating friendships and support systems that last a lifetime.
  • Innovation: Smart textiles that monitor our health, high-tech fibers that protect first responders, and sustainable fabrics that help preserve our planet.
  • Healing: he rhythmic act of stitching, weaving, or knitting is proven to reduce stress, encourage mindfulness, and provide therapy for those in recovery.

At SEFAA, we believe these threads matter. They weave together culture, creativity, and community. This giving season, we need your help to raise $15,000 and help us build a Scholarship Fund for 2026 (10% of all monies raised will be placed in the scholarship fund).    Your financial gift will sustain and support our 2026 programming, including:

  • Offering over 60 inspiring classes for all skill levels.
  • Showcase exhibitions that honor both tradition and innovation.
  • Provide open studios where makers can gather, share, and grow.
  • Launch new resources, like our expanded Makerspace, that puts tools into the hands of more makers.
  • Build the SEFAA Scholarship fund. 10% of all funds raised from GA Gives Day will be set aside to support class scholarships in 2026.

Your donation sustains this vibrant fiber arts community and ensures that textiles continue to shape modern lives—practically, artistically, and spiritually—for generations to come.

Give generously today and help us keep weaving connections, one thread at a time.

As Board Member - Program Chair Jennifer says, “SEFAA matters. It matters to me, to the regional arts ecosystem, and to every person who finds joy and purpose in making with their hands. I want to help ensure that SEFAA continues to grow, thrive, and serve future generations of fiber artists.”

Please give and help our textile community thrive!
