Secret Miracles, Inc.

Secret Miracles, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Georgia. It was initially established as a grassroots collective in 2007 and officially incorporated in 2015. In January 2017, it obtained IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

The primary objective of Secret Miracles, Inc. is to ensure that students make the most of their career and college opportunities by providing professional mentoring to help them achieve their career goals. The organization focuses on various programs, including career assessment, career development skills, career and college planning, as well as scholarships, internships, and work-study programs.

Every student should have the chance to receive a comprehensive education. Education is known to have a leveling effect on socio-economic outcomes, but positive educational outcomes often depend on socio-economic status. For too long, many minority students from low-income families have been deprived of equal access to high-quality education (Ed.gov/equity). As a result, these students are at a higher risk of dropping out of high school or graduating without the necessary readiness for college or a career, rather than being an asset (ACT.com, 2020). This issue is prevalent in numerous underperforming schools in various communities across metro Atlanta. Within these areas, there is a growing number of minority youths who possess untapped potential for learning and growth but lack adequate support and resources at home or in school to develop an interest in post-high school planning. If we want to change the trajectory for these students and provide them with the best opportunities for success, it is crucial to expand the educational ecosystem to include mentorship during their high school years. Mentorship programs play a vital role in reducing high school dropout rates, juvenile delinquency, the effects of poverty, knowledge gaps, and in preparing students for college and their careers.

The GA Gives campaign this year aims to continue raising funds to support our programs, which will provide resources to further our vision and mission. Thanks to the successful fundraising campaigns in 2021 and 2022, Secret Miracles, Inc. was able to offer scholarships to deserving students. This year, we have set an increased goal to provide even more scholarships for future deserving students.

One of the initiatives that the funds raised through the GA Gives 2023 campaign will be to provide much-needed assistance to certain Title I/Micro schools in Clayton, DeKalb, Fulton, and Henry counties.

While our primary focus is on disadvantaged minority students in Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, and Henry County, GA, our mentoring program is open to any student in need. We do not discriminate against anyone based on their religion, gender, age, race, disability, sexual orientation, or preferences. Our commitment is to the success of all students, regardless of their cultural background or whether they live in our county or another county. We consider them all as part of our extended family.
