A U.S. veteran’s decades-long wish to honor his fallen best friend is finally being fulfilled thanks to a partnership between Second Wind Dreams and Caesars Foundation.

Wally, a veteran, was asked what his dream would be. He didn’t hesitate: “To make sure my best friend—my fallen comrade—finally has a headstone and to share one more shot of Jack with him.”

His friend, who died in Wally’s arms during service, was buried decades ago without a grave marker. Today, the headstone has been placed with the support of the soldier’s family, and a ceremony is being held to honor both their service and their enduring bond.
