Bike Walk Savannah

A nonprofit organization

We believe all Savannahians deserve safe and welcoming places to bike, walk and roll.

Bike Walk Savannah was formed in 2008 as the Savannah Bicycle Campaign. At the time our mission was to make Savannah better for bicycling — because bicycles make Savannah Better. We did this through advocating for better facilities and enforcement, and encouraging, educating and empowering residents and visitors to make bicycling a healthy, enjoyable, useful part of their daily lives.

While we still believe that bicycles make Savannah better, we think that safe transportation options are the best! In 2018 we changed our name and mission after many continuous campaigns to advocate for Complete Streets and safer, more inclusive transportation options. Bike Walk Savannah is a membership-based, non-profit organization working toward safer, more accessible, and more convenient biking and walking in Savannah, GA.

We do this through encouraging people to make biking and walking part of their daily lives, providing education classes for children and adults, engaging communities, elected officials and law enforcement to understand barriers to access and address safety concerns, working with municipalities on engineering safe places for physical activity and transportation, providing free bike lights to increase safety, and working with service agencies and other nonprofits to provide reconditioned bicycles for people who need them.
