Building Success for Youth Transitioning from Foster Care

There are over 10,000 youth in foster care in Georgia and for nearly 30 years the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children (MAAC) has provided innovative solutions to help youth thrive during and after their time in the foster care system.

With eight unique programs tailored to bridge critical gaps for children and young adults, a network of nine partner agencies across Georgia, and a passionate, professional staff, MAAC puts young people first.

But today, that mission is being tested. SNAP cuts, federal funding changes, and the hurdles of transportation costs are putting extraordinary strains on the families we serve, and on MAAC’s ability to respond. Most of our funding is restricted, meaning it’s tied to specific program activities or grant requirements. That leaves little flexibility when a youth needs something as immediate as groceries, MARTA fare, or rent support to stay stable and safe.

That’s where individual donors like YOU come in. The unrestricted gifts we receive through GA Gives Day allow MAAC to meet those urgent, real-life needs. The ones that can't wait for formal approval and need help now. Your donation ensures that when a young person calls for help, we can act right away.

Navigating Transitions

For youths in foster care, life can be filled with constant change. Each transition, whether moving homes, schools, or aging out of care, can be overwhelming without the right support. Receiving help in those key moments can mean the difference between stability and crisis, and the impact that carries into adulthood.

MAAC understands how vital and vulnerable these moments are…

For the young person having to change schools after another foster placement...

For the teenage girl in foster care who just found out she’s pregnant and fears losing stability...

For the student graduating high school and struggling to find a sustainable career path...

For the alumnus of foster care who is concerned about their peers still in a group home, and wants to build advocacy and leadership skills...

For the child newly adopted but still working through trauma as they adjust to a new family…

For the youth who just entered care and in urgent need of a safe and stable place to sleep tonight...

Through every transition, MAAC meets youth where they are when they need it most…Donors like you make it possible for us to keep doing what we do best; helping youth in foster care reach their full potential and strengthen the systems that support them.

Your Help Matters

Donors like you make it possible for us to keep doing what we do best - helping youth in foster care reach their full potential and improve the system.

Donation Supports

Your donation directly helps us respond to the growing needs of youth and families, especially as reduced SNAP benefits and rising costs force MAAC to stretch resources even further. Every dollar helps close the gap between what families should have and what they do have to survive.

$1,000 Provides a certification class for a young person on their path to a sustainable career or matches their contribution to our matched savings program, empowering long-term independence.

$500 Covers urgent needs for youth transitioning from foster care—help with utility bills, transportation, groceries, or rental support when public benefits fall short.

$250 Funds tutoring and educational supplies to help youth reach the graduation finish line and take their next step with confidence.

$100- Provides a monthly MARTA pass or grocery gift card, helping youth stay nourished and connected to school, work, and essential appointments.

$50- Supports everyday essentials: job or sports uniforms, diapers, hygiene kits, and extracurricular supplies that promote normalcy, confidence, and recovery.

However, you choose to give and whatever amount you’re able to share, we are deeply grateful. Your generosity ensures that when government supports decreases, MAAC can still show up for Georgia’s youth.
