MINT’s mission is to make Atlanta a destination for the arts: a cultural hub where artists thrive, patrons experience transformative work, and communities are activated and engaged.

MINT believes that art enriches the world, and our dynamic programming, exhibitions, community partnerships and outreach serves artists and art enthusiasts alike. We make space for artists to take risks, be curious, and create brilliant and challenging work reflective of our city.

This past year has been a wild ride for everyone, and MINT has not been immune to the challenges 2020 has presented. When COVID-19 hit, we quickly pivoted, closing our newly built-out 7,300 sq ft art center at the MET Atlanta in Adair Park for public safety. Thanks to our dedicated staff, interns, board members, artists, and supporters, including you, MINT has adapted and our work has continued. We found new ways to connect with our community, with online exhibitions and new projects, like Greetings from ContainMINT postcard project. A generous contribution allowed MINT to waive May’s rental fees for our working studio artist as a demonstration of our commitment to our artists.

Through careful research and participation in art community conversations,  MINT created extensive COVID safety protocols which have allowed us to safely welcome guests back into our space for shows by appointment only and in limited numbers to ensure social distancing is possible. Since reopening the gallery in June, MINT has presented seven exhibitions which feature the work of over 60 artists. MINT has also started a new collaboration project with Atlanta Celebrates Photography and Joe Massey. The FellowshipFund will provide an Atlanta emerging photographer a studio at MINT for one year, mentoring from ACP and a project solo exhibit during ACP’s 2021 Festival. MINT created a curatorial jury and conducted an Open Call for Proposals. MINT’s December exhibition titled MerriMINT features small works perfect for gift giving by over 75 Atlanta emerging artists.

Despite the challenges faced, MINT is looking forward to celebrating its 15th year and continuing its work. We believe that art enriches the world, and is needed now more than ever, and our dynamic programming, exhibitions, community partnerships and outreach serves Atlanta’s artists and art enthusiasts alike.
