Building a Thriving Community for All!
$50 Raised
For 26 years, Manna Ministries, Inc. has been a cornerstone of hope and support for residents in the West Macon-Bibb area, including the neighborhoods of Bartlett Crossing, Cherokee Heights, and the broader communities within U.S. Census Tracts 140, 124, and 125. Our mission is to empower, uplift, and address the challenges of food insecurity, health disparities, and community engagement through collaborative programs that bring meaningful change to the lives of thousands of individuals and families.
Addressing Food Insecurity
In a region where fresh, nutritious food is often out of reach due to the scarcity of grocery stores and limited transportation, Manna Ministries steps in to fill the gap. We distribute ready-to-eat food bags twice a month to homeless and food-insecure individuals. Through partnerships with local farmers, community gardens, and generous donors, we provide fresh produce, dairy, and other essential items.
Additionally, we are developing community gardens in vacant lots within the neighborhoods we serve. These gardens empower residents to grow their own food, learn sustainable farming techniques, and take pride in cultivating fresh, healthy produce.
Promoting Health and Wellness
We understand that access to food is only part of the equation. Manna Ministries hosts nutrition education workshops in collaboration with organizations like the Macon-Bibb County UGA Extension. These workshops focus on meal planning, understanding balanced diets, and addressing cultural dietary needs. By equipping residents with the knowledge to make informed choices, we aim to reduce diet-related health issues and promote a culture of wellness.
Engaging and Empowering Communities
Manna Ministries believes in the power of collaboration. We host Community Empowerment Forums twice a year, bringing together residents, local leaders, and service providers to discuss pressing issues and develop actionable solutions. These forums give residents a voice and foster a sense of shared responsibility for the well-being of their neighborhoods.
Our monthly Neighborhood Watch meetings bring residents together with law enforcement and public agencies to address safety concerns, build trust, and enhance community cohesion.
We also meet regularly with other social service organizations to ensure effective collaboration, avoid overlapping services, and maximize the impact of our collective efforts.
Community Cleanup and Revitalization
We are passionate about fostering pride in the neighborhoods we serve. Our community cleanup efforts engage residents in transforming their streets and public spaces, making them safer, more inviting, and reflective of the vibrant spirit of West Macon-Bibb.
