The mission of the Latin American Association (LAA) is to empower our community to adapt, integrate and thrive. Our vision is Opportunity for All.
Since 1972, the LAA has helped communities overcome the barriers to economic mobility. Along the way, its footprint has extended beyond Buford Highway, to our new shelter in Gwinnet County for women and children, to the City of Dalton working to establish the leaders of tomorrow.
The LAA is a one-stop shop where clients can come in for crisis intervention to alleviate food insecurity, prevent homelessness, and provide shelter for those escaping abuse. Adults can learn English and computer skills, connect with employers, and make their entrepreneurship dreams a reality.
Our trusted caseworkers are fully bilingual in English and Spanish; therefore, we work with many in the Latino community. However, no one is turned away from the LAA and we serve anyone who comes to us needing support.
As we have seen, the Latino community is a driving force of Georgia’s economy. The strong Latino population growth is fueling economic growth in a state that prides itself in being No. 1 for business.
Yet, for all the prosperity they create, Latinos lag in economic and social equity.
This is where the work of the Latin American Association comes in.
The LAA is the catalyst that moves our communities toward achieving and enjoying prosperity.
Georgia’s economy stands to gain from uplifting our hard-working communities towards self-sufficiency.
