Initiative restores hope for families struggling with poverty and homelessness in the Metro Atlanta area with immediate housing, employment, financial assistance, and comprehensive social services to address root causes. Initiative also provides over 350 units of safe, permanent affordable housing for low-income families in DeKalb County and the City of Atlanta and operates re:loom--weaving a better life (http://reloom.org), which provides low-barrier employment, job training, and employment counseling for homeless and low-income individuals. Each year, Initiative serves over 650 low-income residents through its three programs.
The families Initiative serves, who work predominantly in low-wage hourly jobs in service industries, are particularly vulnerable to the economic impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic. Initiative is providing desperately needed financial assistance, social services, and mental health support for local families hardest hit by business and school closures. By ensuring that local families have food, shelter, clothing, childcare, and other essential needs, Initiative is helping our most vulnerable neighbors weather this crisis.
Every donation to Initiative on #GivingTuesdayNow directly supports local families in need.
