Humanity Bridge Partners: Less Bias, More Harmony

Our mission is to focus on the opportunity to actively break the bias, prejudice, and racism social cycle of inequity. Through cutting edge technology and a proprietary tool formatted to actually reduce bias long-term, we set our goals to have significant, real, and permanent lasting changes on society. Using youth as our change agents we are determined to have a vast impact.

Vision

We envision Humanity Bridge Partners as being the recognized source for guided behavioral change and cultural transformation to reduce bias, prejudice, and racism. We will be looked at as a change leader across every institution, corporation, and community across America. The impact of our efforts will be a clear example to those outside of the U.S. of our progress and what can be accomplished.

Using Science and Technology to Create “Less Bias, More Harmony”

Systemic racism. Social prejudice. Unconscious bias. These phrases represent very serious problems that have long existed in our society but are more top of mind and prevalent than ever before. Many of us are disturbed by the images and stories of racial strife and abuse we read about or see in the news. And, perhaps even more so, many of us feel overwhelmed or helpless with what to do about it. How can we help change society – and positively influence younger generations, especially – to be more open and tolerant to one another?

Humanity Bridge Partners (HBP) is a new game-based platform that uses advanced technology tools – including holograms and human-centered design concepts – to expose, examine and ultimately break down bias and prejudice. Dr. John Sherman, founder of HBP says, “There are over 175 types of bias, both conscious and unconscious. We often do not even know what guides our decisions, thoughts, and behaviors. The curriculum and platform of HBP was created to focus  on methods to discover and undo bias to then begin deconstructing the cycle of racism.”

Dr. Sherman originally developed and launched a live, fast-paced interactive stage presentation featuring virtual reality tools, science-based content, audio interviews and carefully chosen imagery to deliver anti-bias insights and messaging – all interspersed with gaming scenarios that drive engagement and feedback.

(Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, HBP has been able to successfully pivot the dynamic  live-audience, stage presentation to a fully digital remote-delivered experience.)

Learning to Confront and Transform Systemic Racism and Patterns of Inequality

Companies, schools, corporate HR departments and all manner of organizations across the country are currently heavily invested in trying to address issues of race, bias, and diversity and inclusion. Many of these existing programs measure bias or teach people how to recognize bias driven inequities – all of which are important tools.

But HBP’s platform aims to take it one step further, to expose and challenge an individual’s bias(es) and ultimately, transform their thought patterns and behavior. The goal is beyond simple education – the goal is to achieve a measurable transformation for each individual and thereby society as a whole.

How is this possible?

The “how” involves HBP’s detailed, human-focused design program – Cultural Transformation Through Training (CT3) – that gently educates users via storytelling. Within that storytelling framework, CT3 adds gaming and holograms to walk users through either a “thinking” component or a “doing” component.

A Different Approach to Changing Behavior … for the Better

The delivery of this information is what sets HBP’s apart from other, generally antiquated anti-bias techniques out there. Instead of merely asking users to read or listen to complex theories of inherent bias, socio-structural concepts, and then answer a series of questions, HBP’s platform does something very different. It pairs the in-depth study of human behavior and psychology with immersive, gamified content that sustains engagement and learning.

The Way Forward

HBP’s platform is on the cutting edge of using decades of human behavioral knowledge and applying today’s technology tools to combat some of society’s most lingering and potent biases. The goal is for 2021-2022 to launch an extensive marketing plan and pilot in various U.S. cities.

HBP is a nimble organization with great talent, passion, and an engaged Founder and Board of Directors. Should your organization want to be involved with HBP’s work, please contact Dr.  Sherman at john@humanitybridgepartners.org and visit HBP’s website at  www.humanitybridgepartners.org.

Less bias, more harmony – indeed. It is possible.
