Horizons Atlanta

A nonprofit organization

Inspiring Minds · Building Communities · Transforming Lives

Horizons Atlanta believes that every child in Atlanta, regardless of background, should have the same chance at making a positive impact on his or her community.  We provide this opportunity by eliminating the critical barriers to success that many of our children face, thus putting them on a path to:

  • Read proficiently by the end of third grade
  • Graduate from high school
  • Receive higher education and
  • Become globally competitive professionals

We accomplish this by providing our students access to high-quality academics in an engaging summer program and complementary school year activities.

Students attend a six-week summer program on the campuses of independent schools, colleges or universities, and receive additional support throughout the year. In small classes led by professional teachers, our students dive into rich curricula with a focus on reading, STEM and art. Swimming and other confidence-boosting activities break down barriers to success and expose children to new opportunities. Children join Horizons the summer before Kindergarten and return to the program each year through 12th grade, building lasting relationships with their teachers and peers, and developing lifelong skills like commitment and determination.

Hosted by three independent schools and five colleges and universities, Horizons Atlanta supports students in three school districts: Fulton County, Atlanta Public, and Paulding County Schools.
