Horizons at Georgia State University

Horizons Atlanta at Georgia State University offers six weeks of happiness to selected students from Whitefoord and Dunbar Elementary. Our partnership focuses on:

• Preventing or reducing summer learning loss
• Serving students from low-income backgrounds
• Fostering lifelong desire for learning
• Proving cultural experiences and social growth
• Insuring our students learn to swim, a life skill that saves lives and builds confidence

We are entering our second year of providing our students with access to high quality academics in an engaging summer program. In small classes led by professional teachers our students dive into rich curricula with a focus on reading, STEM, gardening and art. Swimming and other confidence boosting activities break down barriers to success and expose children to new opportunities.

Our students start in Kindergarten and return to the program each year through 8th grade. Once a student is part of the program their younger siblings once in Kindergarten are also invite to join the Horizons Atlanta at GSU family.
